COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil’s nourishing properties provide moisture to the lips. The lauric acid present in coconut oil contains natural healing properties that, when mixed with other ingredients of a lip balm, provide an all-round fix for dehydrated lips. Since lips have thin skin, coconut oil’s natural skin care solution acts as an emollient that helps trap moisture throughout the day.
CANDELILA WAX
Obtained from the leaves of Candelilla shrub, Candelilla wax is the shrub’s defense mechanism towards harsh environments. The wax functions as a skin protective barrier and an emollient that helps in reducing spots and wrinkles. Candelilla wax contributes by adding shine to the lips while forming a protective film on the skin’s surface to help repel water.
SHEA BUTTER
The anti-inflammatory properties of Shea butter help ease skin irritation and sunburns while restoring skin elasticity and plumpness. Considered one of the natural sun protectors, it heals heat burns and is rich in vitamins A, E, and F. It is proven to soften and improve the appearance of skin blemishes and wrinkles.
RED RASPBERRY SEED OIL
Cold pressed from red raspberry seeds, this oil is packed with essential fatty acids and vitamins and is known, among other things, to offer protection from the sun. The essential oil has the ability to absorb UV rays. Red Raspberry Seed Oil is also considered to be natural antioxidant booster which helps fight premature aging.
Please note: Raspberry seed oil does not offer UVA protection — thus, do not use red raspberry seed oil alone as a sunscreen.
ESSENTIAL OILS
Not only are essential oils a natural alternative to synthetic fragrences, but they also provide unqiue benefits. It is important to understand which essential oils are not overly sensitizing to the skin causing skin irritation or which ones are phototoxic oils aggravating sun burns. Different essential oils have different properties and we at MTL use 100% organic, grade A essential oils in all our products and only the ones that are safe for topical application.
